Just as Laura Carnegie is safely ensconced in the fashion world, she gets distracted by a stolen dress worn by a murdered princess, and her father’s disappearance twenty years before. Can her career and her relationship survive her rabid curiosity?

A Dress to Die For Fashion Avenue Mysteries Volume 3 Christine DeMaioRice 9781482744910 Books

A Dress to Die For completes the story of Laura Carnegie, a young pattern-maker working in the New York garment industry. This was a great book I really enjoyed reading it. I also liked that there were no real issues with grammar or typos.

Laura now has her own clothing line with her sister and but shares space with Jeremy. She tries to solve the mystery surrounding a missing beautiful dress worn by a famous island princess, that was loaned to a museum and that Jeremy has bonded for. Jeremy stands to lose his bond (and his business due to the amount of the bond) if the dress isn't found. Along the way, Laura encounters a lot of strange characters. This story had a lot of twists and turns and I loved it and the fact that Laura finally gets her incredibly sweet romance. I hated for it to end and hope the author will consider finding a way to continue the story.

I've now read all three books in this series and the author who writes as CD Reiss and Christine DeMaio-Rice, painted vivid pictures of what it's like to work in the fashion industry. Her writing is very visual and reading this and the other two books seemed like watching a movie. I am now hooked on Ms. DeMaio-Rice (or Reiss).

I like this writer. Her stories are fast and interesting. The characters are likable and the heroine is smart. This is not the first book of hers that I've read. I enjoyed the last one and this one was equally well written.
Enjoyed the book but didn't LOVE as I did the first two!
Found it hard to hold my interest initially, but as the plot progressed it was a decent read......sure hope #4, if there is one, follows the line of the first two......
Wow. There were a few OMGs in there that I totally didn't see coming. This mystery had me guessing until the end. Loved the hilarious details like the detective's office decor. Loved all of Laura's reflections about her childhood and I enjoyed getting to know Mom better. Laura, Jeremy, Ruby, Mom and even Detective Cangemi, have become more than just characters in a book, but friends as well. This was the best book of the three and now I can't wait until the fourth one.
This one started slow for me, and I started to think it might not be as good as the first two of the series. That was wrong. Once the actual mystery got underway I couldn't put it down. Ms. Demaio-Rice very cleverly wove the story of the missing dress, the family history, and the personal and political history of a small nation, and Laura's ambition and the love story all together. Of course, little seeds of doubt are planted as to Laura and Jeremy's future and what will happen if Stu learns more about Jeremy's health issues. All I can say is, please bring on the fourth book soon!
I read the first book in the series for free from the Lending Library. I liked it, so I bought the next 2 for approx $3 each. A very good writer - it's a behind the scenes at a designer clothing shop - lots of inside baseball talk about patterns and forms that she works into the suspense and intrigue of the plot. The first 2 were murders but this is a theft, but involves princesses and let me just say FULL of surprise twists. I would definitely look to read the next book in the series.
Laura Carnegie has a sharp tongue and a curiosity that never quits until she gets exactly what she's after. She's motivated, tough, and driven. Those traits alone drew me into this series of novels. I'm not one for long, drawn-out passages or needless words when the writer can get to the point, and this book offers dialogue that's perfectly paced and keeps the pages turning. It held my attention all the way through, and that's not easy to do. I also enjoyed seeing different sides of Laura in this one. There's a big twist when her long lost father comes into play. It adds a bit of a side story that all connects together at the end. Well crafted, excellently executed, and fun to read. I was very impressed.
The third in the continuing saga of Lala and JJ, with Ruby, Mom and Detective Cangemi in there too. But it is really about Laura Carnegie and her ambitions and life, with some sleuthing thrown in. Right now, I'm going to say read the first books, they were great, and there is a lot of character development that, while not absolutely necessary to read this book, makes for a richer experience. My review is from the male perspective, so ladies, forgive me now. Laura is the kind of gal you would forgive as a spouse, but probably describe as a talented dingbat if you had to deal with her day to day. She goes a long way to get it right as she has way to many irons in the fire at the same time. Three quarters through the story, I was saying to myself that we were going to have a Deus ex Machina moment, but it all wrapped up in the end satisfactorily and quite surprisingly. Sometimes the fashion stuff was a little above my head, but it didn't go on ad nauseum. The transition from character development to fashion info to plot was very consistent and not at all boring. These are great books by a great author. Hell IS going to freeze over; I bought a Paperwhite. This is the first book I have read on it, and I have a few in waiting. The is Great. Buy the Book, if this is your first time with this author, get the three volume set, great price and you need to read them all.
