I liked this book, storywise. I never would have thought to do so, but there were several elements that pushed the book to a level that did not leave us with one dimension, and with the Boardwalk Empire series also focusing on Atlantic City, the sense of corruption here joined together for me.Burt, the author is a former College basketball coach so he knows something about March Madness. There is a great deal going on in the story, told from the POV of our coach. The game is now a little jaded, all about shoe companies, promoting superstars, gambling and then a little bit of the heroes past comes into play.
The service that helped Burt with the formatting needed to check there work, for it falls apart more than once. And then there are a few instances when we are in the action of a game and we have set the score only to find a few paragraphs later that the score is quoted again but lower.
I would have liked to see some more introspection of the Coaches previous life and losses affecting his motivations in the present storyline. That and then showing his deserving the game successes that he does achieve. The first half of the book seems to lay the groundwork more for the mystery than for the game of basketball.
But those mystery elements lead us to the resolution. And they put this over the top. For under a dollar, it is a great way to idle away a few hours before the start of next season.

This book had me enthralled from the first sentence. It's presented as fiction but it makes you wonder what's really going on behind the scenes. Even if you're not a big fan of college hoops (like me), it's an excellent read.
An intriguing murder mystery in the world of college basketball's March tournament and all that can occur in the intense competition for talent and a winning program. The author, being a veteran of the college recruiting wars, creates a story too good to pass up if you enjoy the mystery surrounding college recruiting and big time college basketball.
At first I thought it was a simple story of corruption, cheating and power of NCAA basketball but the added mystery twist keeps the story moving and the suspense increasing with each turn of the page.
enjoyed the fast moving action of the games and street desire of the players to succeed. sad commentary of sports and big money to influence a pure game. good ending and all ends well.
Madness of March is a very well-written mystery novel. The author has a very interesting and unique tone of language throghout the entire book that grasps the reader's attention - wants to know what happens next and next... I love the way that Mr. Golden has presented this novel with a complicated plot; and yet, he guides the reader step-by-step into his imaginary stories exquisitely. I am very happy for my purchase! Thanks for having this great ebook!
This was one of those books that was easy to read without a whole lot of deep thinking and concentration. It was just fun! Because of my love of college basketball this story was right up my alley. I don't know what other stories Burt has written but I will definitely be looking for them.
I don't like sports at all, but this was a truly exciting mystery! I did cheat a little by skipping over the play-by-play descriptions. I have no way of knowing, but I have a feeling much of the corruption described in the story is at least partly true in the real world of college sports.
I was sad to see the author's fine writing weakened by what must be formatting errors. Many words are missing. Still, I would recommend this story to others.
